Connecticut father of four, Abe Donsky is credited with inventing the first modern electric nightlight in 1965. Fear of the dark is one of the most common childhood fears. But it's not just the kids who are afraid of darkness; many adults - though they may not want to admit it - are also afraid of the dark. Darkness robs us of our strongest and most valuable sense - our ability to see. And when you can't see - whether it's the darkness of the night or the darkness of your circumstances - your mind goes to work filling in those places where your vision is limited - often with imaginary possibilities that can cause deep fear.  But with just a bit of light, the fear is banished.
