Join us for Endurance, a four-week study through 2 Timothy that challenges us to hold firmly to the truth of God’s Word. Written as Paul’s final charge to Timothy, this letter reminds us that faithfulness matters—especially in difficult and uncertain times. Learn how to stand firm, endure hardship, and pass your faith on to the next generation. This series will encourage you to live boldly and faithfully in today’s culture.
We're beginning a new sermon series this Sunday that we've titled, Endurance. And once again, we're diving into another of Paul's letters. It's his second to his protege, Timothy. But this time, the tone is different.
Second Timothy is the most personal of Paul's letters. Likely the last he ever wrote, there is an urgency in Paul's voice. He knows he is nearing the end of his earthly race, and like a relay runner pushing to securely pass the baton, Paul is pressing forward to ensure he completes the handoff - determined to pass on that which is of utmost importance.
This week, in our series, Endurance, we 'll unpack Paul's exhortation to endure for the sake of the gospel. Paul is writing from prison, his own execution approaching... he knows about endurance. And he also knows that Timothy (and we too) will face suffering - of one kind or another - as well. I wonder... are we unknowingly impacted by the ripples of Timothy's faithful endurance in the face of suffering? And who, in generations to come, might be eternally changed by yours?
The best Sunday School songs are the ones with hand motions... at least those were the ones I liked! Do you remember singing, "The wise man built his house upon the rock... ? The best part of that song, at least from a kid's perspective was when the foolish man's house - which he built on the sand - went SPLAT!
We're in week 3 of our series, Endurance, and chapter 3 of 2 Timothy. Paul knows this is his last letter. These are his last written words... to Timothy and to the churches he had established; his last opportunity to encourage and exhort, to point those he loves to what matters most. His message? Stand firm... be faithful... hold fast. Paul knew - because he'd lived it - a life built on the solid foundation of God's Word will not be shaken.
This week, we're at the end of our series, Endurance, and Paul is penning the final words of his letter. He knows they'll be his last ones written. His words, colored with urgency, underscore that which matters most to his heart. This isn't a casual farewell message. These words capture the heartbeat of his life's mission.
